The TiVo arrived Saturday… a Philips DSR704R/14 dual tuner… it’s awesome, but I haven’t a good chunk of time to sit down and play with it. It’s really nice to be able to watch what limited amount of TV we watch on our own time (worth it in itself)… but the dangerous part is finding new things to watch and potentially get sucked into. I think that it was worth it, regardless.
My brother got a new iBook G4 14″ last week, therefore I found someone to dump off that annoying extra iSight I had lying around since last year. It’s a worthy donation, since he’s off to college this fall… cheap and easy means of communication are a must. He was over this weekend to play poker and geek out with me, which was awesome, since he hadn’t been by in a while. It’s great to have a brother that’s, like, cool and stuff. 😉
Oh, and I finally got Panther up and running, needless to say, since I’ve been using iChat AV with my brother. I like it more and more each day… and most operations run a lot more smoothly, and notably faster. Garage Band is a ton of fun, and I want to play with it more. I only wish I had a tool like this when I was in film school… it would’ve saved a lot of grief in making soundtracks. But still… fun app, good times.
Oh, and on non-geekish topics, we had a nice Valentine’s evening, no fanfare or anything… K cooked me a Chicken Picatta from a recipe in one of AB‘s books, and did a superb job at it. I chose a 2002 Meridian Pinot Grigio to go with (I do so love my Italian wines), and made a garlic risotto for our side dish. Afterwards, we had some chocolate lava cake (a good mix from the market) and then watched a quirky Japanese game show while playing with the TiVo. A nice quiet evening at home… we even went to bed early and got a good night’s rest!
Yep, it was a good weekend.
